National Service Agency CEO to Deliver Keynote at National Council of La Raza Conference

 

Administration Official to Meet with State and Local leaders; Tour Program Sites

San Antonio, TX – Patrick Corvington, CEO of the Corporation for National and Community Service, will deliver the keynote at the National Council of La Raza's 2010 National Conference on Saturday, July 10. Corvington will outline the agency's plan to expand volunteer opportunities that engage diverse communities in service to help solve local problems.

Corvington will also meet with state and local leaders, including Texas A&M President Dr. Maria Ferrier, President and CEO of OneStar Foundation Elizabeth Darling, and Director of Texas KIDS COUNT Dr. Frances Deviney, to discuss the agency's strategic plan. The meeting held at Catholic Charities is part of the Corporation's summer initiative to engage social sector leaders and communities on ways to effectively leverage national and citizen service toward tackling tough challenges and the future direction of the service movement.

During his trip, Corvington will also tour the Christian Senior Services program and the Bexar County Health Collaborative facility. Corvington will meet with Senior Corps and AmeriCorps members and observe their work to provide vital independent living services to seniors and improve the health prospects of area youth.
